Lunar New Year 2025: Embracing the Wisdom of the Snake

Happy Lunar New Year !

Lunar New Year with Dad was magic – red envelopes, incense smoke, and endless food. He’d tell stories of Vietnam, teaching us to say chúc múng năm mői while we stumbled through it. Lighting fireworks together was the best and the smiles were brighter than the sparks. Those are the memories of my childhood that I’ll cherish forever as mixed kid – half Vietnamese, half Haitian.

Lunar New Year 2025 rings in the Year of the Snake, kicking off on January 29. This marks the start of the 16-day Spring Festival, a time for celebrating traditions, reuniting with family, and hoping for a lucky year ahead. After the bold and fiery vibes of the Year of the Dragon, the Snake brings a more wise and reflective energy, offering a chance for growth, change, and transformation.

So, what’s Lunar New Year all about? Also called Chinese New Year or the Spring Festival, it’s a big cultural celebration tied to the Chinese lunar calendar, where each year is linked to a zodiac animal. The date changes every year on the Gregorian calendar but always brings loads of excitement and meaning.

People celebrate Lunar New Year in style, especially across Asia and in Chinese communities around the world. Think bright red decorations (for good luck), huge family meals, cleaning the house to sweep away bad vibes, and visiting loved ones. It’s all about new beginnings, honoring traditions, and setting the tone for a positive year ahead.

In 2025, the Snake’s energy is all about wisdom and transformation—perfect for anyone looking to grow and embrace change. It’s also the occasion to give gifts to your loved ones, find below a list of special Lunar New Year gifts.
